• Hi! I’m new to multisite.

In Godaddy, I have one website (wordpress) in root directory and two websites (prestashop and phpbb) in sub directories.

If I activate wordpress multisite in root dir, will it affect my websites in subdirectories? the files and database behaviour? Or they will be just safe where they are?

    Please help

  • If prestashop and phpbb have their own domains or subdomains, then I think they will be OK. WordPress will never see requests for those URLs.

If all three websites share the same domain, then I think you might have to redirect the subdirectories before WordPress tries to handle them. Another way would be to use a custom plugin to redirect within WordPress.

    Hi, thanks for your reply.
All three have their own domains, ok they’re safe.
In my case, what do you thing about using subdomain for the multisite?

IMO, you should move WP into its own directory. The problem is that there could be cross contamination of content between WP and the other websites. You should be able to access the pretashop and phpbb content via wordpress url, e.g. http://wpsite.com/pretashop/ or http://wpsite.com/phpbb/

I would use Subdomains, and they will be perfectly safe. I have WP Multisite in the root folder, with other apps in sub folders 🙂

Remember: REAL folders always trump WP’s virtual ones.
