I have had WordPress running for ages and, and it the best software I have found. Since the early days I started using the internet, WordPress is the only thing I really dabbled in. I used it for my own personal website, and this was a place I shared my thoughts with like minded people. But as I am now retired, I think I will have to let WordPress go. The reason being I don’t want to have to keep paying out for mysql every month. As I said my site was just a personal one, for my hobbies and thoughts and ideas. So I have moved all my content over to static html pages. I dont like a static site, but I am reluctant to keep mysql running. I really have loved using WordPress, and if I could find a way to keep it going I would 🙁

  • Why not move your site to Then you would just pay for the domain name and let them do the rest?

Hi Ipstenu, yes I did think of but I wont have proper control of my content. Besides I have my own domain name, so it looks like I am stuck with boring old html pages 🙁 html is so boring, and the search engines love WordPress. Search engines now overlook my site 🙁

I wont have proper control of my content

No, you retain FULL control of your content on

Besides I have my own domain name

Yes, and you can MAP your domain to your blog 🙂

Ok I will go over and have a look at, I will see if it can do what I want of my pages. Hope so 🙂

I have had a look at and yes it could be used as an alternative. But I think I will just have to stick with the layout that I had from the early days. I will just leave them there as archives!

I have got my site back up again, I simply installed the PDO (SQLite) For WordPress plugin. My wordpress install is now back up and running, it’s a little slow, but the main thing it is back 🙂
