The Customer Account Activation Email arrives without Subject

I have a site with two plugins WooCommerce and Germanized.
I have enabled double opt-in for new customers. Therefore a new Email is visible on Emails settings page https://i.imgur.com/IDTWhI2.png
The problem is that when a customer receives this email, it comes without Subject.
My Website language is set to German formal.

Hi there,

you may edit the subject in the email settings by clicking on the email template within the admin panel. Did you adjust the subject? Are you using a multi-language plugin?

I was expecting different behavior if I don’t fill the Subject field. There is a default subject in case nothing is entered in the Subject field. Also the text for the Subject is displayed in Placeholder therefore I was surprised it wasn’t taken and instead returned empty.
No, I don’t use any multilingual plugin.

Hi there,

the subject vs. default subject check is handled by the Woo core. I’ve just tested it with the customer activation email by using an empty subject – the default subject is used instead. Could you please disable all plugins but Woo and Germanized and activate a default theme for testing purposes?

Exactly that I’m doing. I have only WooCommerce and Germanized enabled. The theme is twentytwentyone. Please change your site language to German_Formal and the default subject is not visible anymore. In English all works fine.

The first issue I see is that your backend seems to be in English? Which is your main language? Did you change the site language on a per user basis? I’ve tested it just now with the latest version (+ language files) installed. Thank you for you help.
You are right, I use the admin interface for my admin user in English. Still had no idea why I can’t have the default subject in emails.

The workaround was to put the subject-line through admin.
I hope one day this mystery will be solved 🙂
