• I wanted to add a contact form on my home page. But I need a container block to format the form correctly for desktop and mobile. I just created a container a few days ago for my ‘get in touch’ page and it was fine. But when I went to look for the block again, it had completely disappeared. I typed ‘container’ in the search box and nothing. I only get the option of group, row or stack. I also did some troubleshooting and went into a different theme, but still no container block. I have updated my PHP and deleted my caches. I don’t know where it has gone and what to do to find it. Can anybody help me?

    Thanks Georgie

  • WordPress has no default block called “Container”. And none of the default blocks has mobile-specific settings (other than stacking things vertically on mobile).

If you had such a “Container” block, then it came from a plugin.

I see you’re using the “Gutenify” plugin, which seems to have such a block… though the deeper I dug, the more confused I became 😀

The plugin’s description page at WordPress.org mentions a “Container” block: https://wordpress.org/plugins/gutenify/

But the official website does NOT mention “Container” among the available blocks: https://gutenify.com/blocks/

Meanwhile, there’s a documentation page for this “Container” block: https://gutenify.com/documentations/container/

Confused, I installed the plugin to test it for myself.

    — When I hit the blue + sign to add a block, like you, I don’t see any “Container” block among the list of the plugin’s blocks. A search for “Container” also doesn’t return this block

    — Yet when I insert one of the plugin’s “Blocks Templates” (which should better be called Patterns!), I see a “Container” block being used to create the template.

The plugin’s pricing page mentions “Basic Blocks” in the free version while the PRO version has “Advance Blocks”. But I couldn’t find any info on which blocks are basic (free) vs Advanced (paid).

So… I recommend you seek an explanation from the plugin’s author 😀

    Good luck!

Thank you for your epic research. I have contacted Gutenify to see what has happened.
