The Colour Picker has gone from back end

    Hi,
    I have had Maxbuttons for quite a while now with no problems. I have updated to the latest version with no obvious issues.
    I made a new button only a few weeks ago without any problems.
    I went to make a new button now and everything works except the colour picker.
    This means that i can’t change the colours of the buttons in any way.
    I can change everything else and save and use the button but i can’t change any colours.
    For example the text: “Background color:” is there but there isn’t a box with the color code or colour picker beside it to use to change the colour.
    When i refresh the page the colour picker loads and i see it very quickly before it then immediately dissappears.
    I have turned off any new plug ins but that makes no difference.
    I have tried to check what i can but with no success.
    Could you please help fix this problem

    Ensure you have the latest version of both WP and MaxButtons ( 4.27 ). If you see the color picker dissapear, this is almost always caused by either the theme or plugins that are loading code where they shouldn’t.

    You should also try to disabled / deactive older plugins and / or the theme until the culprit is found.

    From looking at the front page from the site in your profile, my first guess would be WP Mega Menu.

    Hi Bas,
    Thanks for the very quick reply

    Is there any way around the problem without disabling things?
    If for instance the problem is possibly coming from WP mega Menu like you suggest, it will be pretty hard to disable it because it is being used continually by site visitors.
    Are there any other ways to fix the problem without turning things off or changing the theme?
    Would buying the pro version of your buttons possibly fix the problem?

    People who can’t have their website looks funny for a minute due to visitors usually setup a separate test installation to check releases, upgrades etc. Maybe that’s something to consider?

    The other way of checking what’s the problem here is going into developer options (F12) and check for Javascript running wpcolorpicker function, or by checking if the color picker element has other events attached from outside of MaxButtons. Both need some technical knowledge though.

    The only difference with PRO would be that in our PRO support forums I’m allowed to ask for site access and can do the above for you ( here it’s not allowed, per WP rules ).

    The possible outcome is the same after finding the problem and that’s to either replace the offending plugin or request from the developer to update it.

    Hi Bas,

    A test installation is certainly something I will consider

    Since you last contacted me I have found another plugin that isn’t working correctly.
    So I did turn off WP Mega Menu and it is the problem.
    Good call.

    Your buttons are working properly like they always have been, when I turn off WP Mega Menu

    I am now chasing WP Mega Menu to see what they can do
