    Hi guys,

Thought I’d ask here before I buggered my website up.

I’ve just discovered in the Clearfy drop-down, something called ‘Assets Manager’, which has in the first column, a list of plugins found on the page, and when clicking on the plugin name, a list of things that are loaded up in that plugin with a drop-down saying ‘load plugin and it’s assets, load plugin assets, don’t load plugin’.

Then just below that, another panel with the resources, ‘javascript with enable/disable and CSS with enable/disable’.

So I suppose the question is this:

On checking out the website homepage, I find a few plugins that I know are not needed for the homepage, as they’re only on posts, or on the contact page and jobs page.

Let’s say I go to the ‘Table of Contents’ plugin for example, or the ‘Visual Form Builder’ – should I just be choosing from the items in the first panel drop-down (load plugin and assets, load plugin assets, don’t load plugin), or should I also be looking to disable the CSS and Javascript for those items too?

    Thanks for any info!

  • Hello.

Try selecting one of the items (load plugin and assets, load plugin assets, don’t load plugin) and you will see that “enable/disable the CSS and JS” change immediately.
This is done to disable all scripts and styles at once.
If you select “don’t load plugin” the plugin will not be executed at all on the page you specify in the filter

Gotcha, so in the above example, I could select ‘don’t load plugin’ for both ‘table of contents’ and ‘visual form builder’, yes?

    Yes

Well I tried it, and the website seems to still be working, and the results in GTMetrix seem to be going the right way.

However when I tried going over to the ‘Jobs’ page, the visual form builder was still disabled according to the Assets Manager even though I’d only disabled it on the homepage, but the form was still showing.

Is there any DECENT documentation on how this works, not including the present documentation, as all that seems to be is an upsell and how to use assets manager on contact form 7?

Meanwhile, reverted everything back to ‘load plugin and assets’.

There is no documentation, there and so everything should be clear. You may have made a mistake with the logic of disconnection. Show the screenshot settings disable the plugin, I will try to help you.

Thanks Temyk, but a plugin (especially one like this one) without documentation is like a car without wheels.

What’s a ‘logic of disconnection’ mistake?

All the other plugins in your portfolio are really intuitive and easy to use, but the asset manager would seem to be the white elephant in this pack.

Sorry for my English. I mean it https://imgur.com/jseDSUS

Ok, so I tried ‘don’t load plugin’ for the ‘Table of Contents’ plugin on my statistics page, and made sure that in the panel below, it actually mentioned /statistics in there.

However then going over to any other page where the ‘Table of Contents’ was being loaded, it was disabled there too, when according to the asset manager’s own ‘logic of disconnection’, it should still be active.

Not sure about the ‘logic of disconnection’ mistake, but I think there’s a ‘failure to communicate’ problem in the assets manager.

Still show the settings on the screenshot

Right then, I have no idea what this is going to prove, but here goes:

THIS FIRST SCREENSHOT is of the assets manager as I’ve just disabled the plugin and it’s assets from the /statistics/ page.

THIS SECOND SCREENSHOT is of the assets manager with no further editing or additions at it appears on my /resources/ page, with the plugin still showing as being disabled.

As you will see, both screenshots are identical, but /statistics/ in the first screenshot should now be reading /resources/ in the second screenshot – hence a ‘failure to communicate’ within the assets manager, and an essential reason that documentation is needed!

I do not understand. On the statistics page, the plugin is disabled, but on resources it is not disabled?
The asset Manager settings on all pages are the same

    (@steveraven)

Yes, and this is what I’ve been saying all along.

When disabling the plugin through the asset manager for the statistics page, why does the plugin show as being disabled for all pages, and yet still have /statistics/ in the url?

This is precisely the reason I asked on here first before ‘buggering my website up’.

Now after trying out a few plugins, this one seems to be the one that is most likely to succeed, but the lack of any documentation and instructions for the assets manager totally ruins it.

The parameters of the asset Manager do not depend on which page you have opened it. They are common to the entire site, which is why you choose which page to block

    Thread Starter steveraven

    (@steveraven)

Ok, so how do I change (from the above example) /statistics/ to /resources/ ?

    You see my problem here?

Disabling a plugin site-wide means I might as well just delete the plugin, yes?

To change, put the cursor in the input field, erase “/statistics” and type “/resources”. If you want to add a rule, click AND.

Didn’t quite get your last question.
