    Hi,
I am Pradip Sikdar, I am not a professional webdesigner or something like that. But as WordPress offers everything even for a non-tech person, I am designing my own website at the moment. On the context of this topic, I want to let you know that, I am 100% visually impaired and a screen reader user.
I found the FooBox plug pretty usable and accessible to the screen reader. But it has an anoyances which lead me finally delete the plug-in. After installing and activating the plug-in, I found the letter ‘F’ at the end of every page (even in the admin area). I don’t know, whether it is visable on the page or not. But my screen reader can interact with it. I think, there might be a coding error which is the root cause of the problem.
Believe me, I have tested a dozen of plug-in of the same kind. But this one pretty usable. But this bug leads me to uninstall it.
Even if it is not visable on the page, a large number of visitors of my page will be visually impaired. So, it will be very annoying to them.
I wish this bug would be fixed in the next update and I will again install this plug-in.
    Sorry for the poor English.
    Pradip

    Hi Pradip,

I have figured this out. I preload the font used in FooBox by the arrows etc by including a hidden span with f. I will add aria-hidden=”true” to the span so that it is not picked up by screen readers in a the next release

    Thanks for pointing this out

Please consider removing this markup altogether as it also causes issues/confusion with ARIA landmark regions.

    See https://dequeuniversity.com/rules/axe/3.0/region?application=AxeChrome

This is also an issue for me as webmaster for a community college. Accessibility is a huge issue for me. I love your plugin, but it also needs to be accessible.

I think, I should open a new topic. But just to let you know, the issue withe the latter F has been fixed. However, there is another issue. I don’t know which plug-in is responsible for that, FooBox or FooGallery.
I have an image gallery in my website http://www.pradipsikdar.com. When I am clicking on an image, it is opening in the FooBox. there I find 3 buttons, Next, Previous, and close. But the buttons are not labeled. That mean, my screen reader just sees them as links with no label. So, it doesn’t know, whether it is a next/previous/close button.
Please consider to fix this problem. I know, it is not hard to fix. always remember, a single tag/label can change thousands of life! What would happen if the “React” buttons of Facebook were not labeled? A sighted person can see the icon and know whether it is a love button or an angry button. But a person with visual disability can’t see them. So, the “Reactions” of the blind persons were in the jail! 😉
