# Text/Visual View Problem

 * Hi there,
 * When I create a post the Visual and Text buttons appear like this:

 * Clicking them doesn’t change the view and the content area is split in half.
 * At the bottom of the page it shows;

 * I haven’t seen this problem before so thank you for any help you can give.

   a list of plugins?

 * Try this. Deactivate all your plugins and see if that fixes it. If it does, slowly
   reactivate your plugins one by one until it breaks again. That is the plugin 
   causing the issue. Either work with the plugin author to fix the bug or find 
   a different plugin. If that doesn’t work we’ll try something else.

 * I deactivated them all and then activated them again with the error still persisting.
 * I’ve used the theme (Bryant by iThemes) before on many sites without this happening
   so I’m pretty sure it’s not that either.

 * Just to confirm, you did deactivate and then activate one at a time, checking
   the bug after activating each individual plugin, correct?

 * While there are many things this could be, the usual suspects are plugin issue,
   theme issue, and/or WordPress file issue (sometimes upgrades or installs get 
   horked). Are you able to provide a fresh WordPress install to see if the last
   one is the case? ***Do not overwrite wp-content/ or wp-config.php***

 * As it’s a client I’m working for I don’t currently have access to their FTP where
   the WordPress files are. When I started on their site the install had already
   been set up.
 * I’ll ask them for the details today and do a fresh install.

 * If I had to guess I would say it’s either a WP files issue or perhaps the shortcodes
   plugin not being compatible with WP 3.9.1 or perhaps one of the other plugins.
   I checked into the shortcode plugin and noticed quite a few support posts regarding
   compatibility and UI issues.
