text widget and javascript

  • ARRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

    Right, i have spent two hours, its now 1am here, looking at WHY my javascript wont work in a text widget box.

    The javascript is;

    <script language=”javascript” type=”text/javascript” src=”http://www.librarything.com/jswidget.php?reporton=stonneway&show=tagcloud&header=1&cloudnum=30&cloudwhich=frequent&cloudcontrast=5&cloudsize=9&css=1&style=1&link=catalog&version=1″>
    </script>

    When I save changes, and view the text box again, its blank except for the backticks. The blog just shows the back ticks as well.

    I have tried putting backticks at the start and end of that sccript, using speach marks, using single speach marks, I’ve googled, searched till im blue, but NOTHING makes WP remember that script. Each time i save, the script vanishes leaving just the back ticks.

    WHY ?

    Olly

  • I use this for my Amnesty International ‘ad’:
    <script src="http://fragments.irrepressible.info/js/fragment-180.js" type="text/javascript">

    </script>

    I just pasted that into a text widget and it works (for me).

    What backticks? You should be able to paste that code in directly. No special tricks required. The text widgets don’t have any filtering, as such.

    You do have to have the unfiltered HTML capability enabled, if you’re using the Role Manager stuff. Otherwise it strips out HTML, including that script bit.

    even without backticks, it just removes the script text.

    Im using the free wordpess blog site, and I cant see anything about Roles. I have checked the settings for the user (administrator) and what setting there are imply I can do anything.

    Where can I find the unfiltered HTML capability ?

    Yosemite,

    If i copy and paste your Amnesty internation advert script, and then click the Save Changes button, it removes that code as well :S

    Im using the free wordpess blog site

    Then you’re asking in the wrong place. Go here: http://wordpress.com/forums/
