 * I can’t figure out how to switch from HTML to Text under Appearance / Theme Options/
Home Page. The two tabs don’t appear in the top right corner and I don’t see
anything to click to switch back to text (it was text when I originally wrote
the site). Please help – I need to edit.

 * What theme are you using? Is it one you wrote yourself? If so, can’t you get
in and change it in the code you wrote?
 * Anyway, if you right-click that text area and go to “Inspect Element” to see
the HTML code underneath, you might check for a `<div>` with a class of `tinymce-
editor` to be sure the element is correct. Or, also, in my Theme (Responsive
by CyberChimps), the HTML to Text tabs are in a `<div>` with class `wp-editor-
   tabs`.
 * I’d probably try to check out how the code is functioning on your site first.
Did you never have any problems before? Could it be that your server is just
stalling as it loads the page and that portion isn’t getting loaded properly?

 * I am using Responsive by Cyberchimps.
 * Please understand I didn’t write code nor could I. I wrote a book and wrote this
website to support the sales process – I am not a website designer by any stretch.
Actually, I was pretty proud of the stuff I created on the site for a first-timer.
if that helps. When I wrote the website (following a youtube video step-by-step)
the home page was in TEXT, not HTML, so it was easy for me to edit. I want to
delete my first paragraph on my home page but am concerned as to where to start
and stop the cut without messing up the code. Much more obvious when it just
   displays text.
 * So, most of what you wrote went way over my head. I did right-click/Inspect Elements
and I do see tinymce-editor. I think in everything you wrote, the sentence “the
HTML to Text tabs are in a <div> with class wp-editor-tabs” is the one I need
translated into newbie lingo. To be clear, I’m just trying to get it to display
in text, not HTML, like it used to. (And thanks for trying to help so far.)

 * are you talking about the post editor where you write your content?

 * I’m also using Responsive by CyberChimps on one of my websites.
 * So, you aren’t seeing [the two tabs that are pictured in this image?](http://www.keytokorean.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Theme-options.png)
 * Strange. Is the Theme fully updated?
 * Anyway, if you can at least see HTML, then you can do what you want. Just delete
everything between the `<p ... >` and `</p>` tags that surround your paragraph.
 * [Here’s a visual.](http://www.keytokorean.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/deleteable.png)
Delete everything in the red box to delete your first paragraph.

 * Jack – all I know is I have to go to Appearances/Theme Options/Home Page.
    Jekkilekki–
thanks very much. I made the change you showed me and it worked fine. No, I don’t
see Text/Visual tabs at all. I updated all my plug-ins and Responsive, but my
headers above the editing area look nothing like the image you attached. Actually,
my tabs look almost like the tabs above this window in which I’m typing with
the addition of del, code, more, close tags
 * I’m asking because, even though you helped me delete the paragraph I wanted,
I still would like to be able to edit at will in the future and would prefer
   to see the EDIT view.

 * Since it seems like a problem with the Responsive theme by CyberChimps, you might
try also asking over there in their forums: [CyberChimps Responsive Forum](http://cyberchimps.com/forum/free/responsive/).
 * Or, alternatively, you might see if updating your TinyMCE editor (the thing with
the HTML and TEXT tabs) does anything. (Note: I haven’t done something like that
so I don’t know if it will work, but it’s worth a shot as it’s just installing
a new plugin that you could always uninstall later.)
 * Here are two different TinyMCE plugins that you might try installing to see if
   that helps fix it:
    1. [Ultimate TinyMCE](https://wordpress.org/plugins/ultimate-tinymce/)
    2. [TinyMCE Advanced](https://wordpress.org/plugins/tinymce-advanced/)

 * Well, the more I look at it, the more I realize that there is a deeper problem.
For example, I can’t SEO my home page because, for whatever reason, only one
random sentence in the middle of my home page appears under PAGES/HOME. The rest
of my home page text is only in APPEARANCES/THEME OPTIONS/HOME PAGE which doesn’t
allow the SEO YOAST to optimize.
 * So, I think what I really need is some charitable person to go on a 10 minute
GOTOMEETING with me and help me figure this thing out because this is way over
my head. “I’m just a country doctor, Jim.” Actually, a writer.
