    Please be gentle… I’m new.

I’m trying to start using what I *think* are called anchor text links. You know… you’re reading along and then a string of words in the paragraph are blue and underlined… you click and it takes you to a new page.

In my version, the button for insert/edit link is greyed out in visual mode. Isn’t that what I should be using? When I switch to html mode, I click the blue underlined link button and then put the web address in the pop up box. It’ll put in the code for the link but it doesn’t ask me what word or word string I want to write and have underlined.

Sorry to be asking something simple. I’m coming from Typepad where this was easy, peasy for a novice like me. I’m afraid I’m going to need some hand holding. Thanks in advance!

  • In the Visual Tab, simply type in the words you want to turn into a link, then highlight those words. The insert/edit link will then become active, allowing you to add your anchor url.

Don’t switch back and forth between the HTML and Visual tabs when working on a post. Pick a tab and stick to it. Otherwise you risk losing some formatting as you switch from one to another.

Wow! I knew it had to be something simple that I just couldn’t figure out. Thank you so much! I never would have figured that out on my own.

    Cheers!
