    Hi all,
    I am new to wordpress.
I have written a simple text in wordpress classic editor. I now want to highlight a word and link to a table in tablepress, If I then subsequently click on the word, a new page opens with the table. As it works for example with the link to an image. How can I do this?
    Thanks a lot

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

Do you mean to open the table in a popup or overlay? TablePress does not have a native feature for that, you’d have to use a dedicated plugin for that, which then allows you to use Shortcodes as the popup/overlay content.

If you want to open a separate page or tab, you’d have to create a new page in your site, and embed the table there. Then, link to that new page from your text.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Thanks for the quick reply. I also did it that way via a new page. I thought there might be a special trick. Do you have a suggestion for a good plugin?

One hopefully last question, I’m just despairing of a link that will take me to a specific row or cell in a tablepress table. I’ve already found this post (https://wordpress.org/support/topic/can-i-link-to-specific-rows-in-tablepress-from-another-page/), but I’m too stupid to understand it or get it to work. I’m pretty new to this stuff. Sorry….and Thanks!!

    Hi,

no, sorry, I’m not familiar with plugins with such features so that I can’t recommend one 🙁

As for linking to a row, use this code: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/can-i-link-to-specific-rows-in-tablepress-from-another-page/#post-13883302
(Essentially, add some HTML to the rows, and then the hashtag part to all links that should link to this row.)

    Hi Tobias,
    I am totally desperate.
    I have done the following
    1. inserted a new column in the table and then inserted into it for individual rows.e.g. <span id=”table-row-2″ />. “2” for the second row. <span id=”table-row-3″ /> “3” for the third row.
    2. new page created with a shortcode to the table so changed.
    3. third page created the shortcode: <a href="https://Link to the page I created in point 2/#table-row-10">Link to row 2</a>.

Result: when I then click on the link the whole table appears again….
    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks for the help
    Matthias

    Hi,

in step 3, the correct link URL would need to be

    https://example.com/your-page/#table-row-2

if you want to link to row 2 (not ...-row-10 !).

Once you click on that link, you will be taken to you new page and indeed see the full table, but the browser will automatically scroll to that row (so it should be at the very top of the screen).

    Regards,
    Tobias
