    try to add something like this to style.css of the child theme:

    .one-column #content {width:98%;}

    you can use a fixed width in px as well.

    I’m finding it quite embarrassing that I’m struggling so much with this, html was so much easier.
    I’ve bodged the two pictures next to each other to hide the borders and popped <p> everywhere to space it out!
    I know, naughty.
