I am spending most of my blogging time fighting with the text editor. Where is the choice of font, size, and color? Why does the editor reformat all my text? Why can’t I just paste in a block of text from WSWord and be done with it? Is there a workaround I cannot figure out? What is everybody else doing? Help!

… This is the web, not a Word Processor. You don’t usually change “font, size, or color”. Your website has a style sheet that determines those things, and you want to adhere to that style sheet so as to make things look consistent and nice. Trying to manually override everything makes your page look ugly and poorly designed.

Now, you can use the editor to set the type of text as well as the color, but generally speaking you should not do that. Your theme controls those things and makes the whole page look internally consistent.

Look at this image to find the text type and color pickers:

    Thanks, Otto42
It’s good to know there is another toolbar. Have to say, though, I am still baffled by the rigidity of text editing. In the previous eight web sites I created, I was always able to give them the exact look I wanted. You might find that “ugly and poorly designed,” but it is what I wanted, and the people I created sites for have been happy too. I am using Tarski. Can you recommend a theme that does not “make the whole page look internally consistent” to the point that I am denied any formatting options for my text?
    Thanks again,
    Bruce

p.s. I should mention that with Tarski, at least, using Firefox (forget IE), it is pretty much impossible to place an image where I want it in a post. That, combined with the constant reformatting of my text upon saving, has been quite frustrating.

Then I would suggest finding a piece of software that better suits your needs, as you will find it extremely difficult to do what you are talking about with WordPress.

This doesn’t have anything to do with the theme, this is WordPress and general web design. Specifying things like fonts and sizes and such inline is not how the web works anymore. Nowadays, we use stylesheets.
