How do I add my own text colors in 3.9? The option is no longer available under the old text color button?

This is imperative for my blog.

    Help please!

  2. This was changed in TinyMCE 4 (which WP upgraded to). It's still there, though :)

but how do I add my own HEXA colors? All you are showing me is the set colors. I want to add my own. That option is not there anymore.

Similar problem here - how can I match text colors to an existing blog when the option has been removed?

Is anyone else having this problem? What happened to the ability to pick your own colors?

I just posted the same thing. This is a huge disaster, just like funkiplanet said. I am missing all my old colors.

Funki - by chance did you lose your dropbox of font sizes too? I lost that as well......

I didn't, but I lost a lot of buttons from TinyMCE - however - they are there if I mouse over them, I just can't see them. Do you have this?

No, I don't see anything that doesn't appear until I mouse over it.

Is this an issue in Chrome specifically?

I don't think so. I just reopened WP in Explorer and same issues (missing all my old colors, missing font size dropdown box).

No Andrew - it's also an issue in Safari.

I also just did a google search on this to see if I could find any solutions - sadly, no - but I did see many other complaints on other forums about the loss of the color picker.....I really hope WP will fix this soon. Those dozen colors are far from sufficient.

I agree theblondemovement - we need our color picker back! I suppose we could do it with HTML from the text editor, but that seems so 1994, doesn't it? We used to do that in computer class.

See http://alisothegeek.com/2011/05/tinymce-styles-dropdown-WordPress-visual-editor/ for how to customize the WordPress tinyMCE editor to use your own custom styles and code.

For the time being, I have resorted to typing in my desired 6-digit specific color in the Text Editor - WHAT A PITA THIS IS. Really hope they can add this back to the kitchen sink.

You should create a new thread in the Feedback forum to request that http://wordpress.org/support/forum/requests-and-feedback#postform

    I agree - total pain.

  20. It's not WordPress itself, it's TinyMCE 4. Have you tried using the TinyMCE Advanced plugin?

I did try that plug-in and unfortunately it did not resolve the issues so I deactivated.

Well, theblondemovement, it looks like according to TinyMCE we have to wait for wordpress to release 3.9.1 for the fixes to go public.

    OR

I just found this thread -

Ultimate Tinymce will no longer function properly on WordPress versions 3.9 and higher.
Instead.. it's time to switch to WP Edit:
    http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-edit/

There is an option under the "Database" tab in WP Edit to attempt to import option from Ultimate Tinymce.

    I'm going to try it.

Funki - let me know how it goes! Maybe this is our fix!

    Hey theblondemovement -

Well, after much research I think WP Edit will solve at least your fontsize issue. You can get that with the free version and it seems to work.

The color picker issue will only be resolved if WP and TinyMCE reintroduce the HEXA option. For now, if you really need it you have to upgrade to WP Edit pro at $35 because the plugin creator, Josh, had to custom code it. He said he doesn't know why WP and TinyMCE removed it from version 4. Oy!

Hope this helps at least some of your problem.

Nooooooooooo!!!! Just now discovering the "more colors" option is gone!

This is a HUGE drag!!!! If anyone at WP is reading this, PLEASE give us our color picker back ASAP!

Heading over to the request link to share my $.02.

  26. This was NOT WP. This was TinyMCE 4 (which we upgraded to) and I know that makes it sound like I'm splitting hairs, but the reality is that in order to fully support things like HTML5 (which you'll be needing sooner or later), we needed the new TinyMCE. And that's where the choice was made to yank it :/

See https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/27359 for understanding why, where we're going, and what we all need to bring it back.

Since there's a ticket, I'm marking it resolved NOT because we have a solution, but because trac is on it, and that's one the ways we try to save moderator and volunteer sanity :)

Just FYI, from that ticket, if anyone is looking to add it back. There's now a plugin to do that. In case someone stumbles on this.

Oh, brilliant! This is even better than the old picker, because now it saves my palette choices. Thank you for letting us know!!!
