[Resolved] Testimonials and Permalinks

  • Hi, I’ve updated to the latest version because of the new features. I was looking for a way to display an excerpt of a testimonial in the index page, and then being able to access the whole text in a new page.

Here’s what’s happening: I create a testimonial and a Permalink is automatically created (Example: site/testimonial/example). If I press the view testimonial button on the backend I get a 404 error. However, if I use “site/testimonial/” I can see the text.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks

    Please see FAQ 23.

Thanks. That didn’t work, but updating the permalinks did.

I appreciate the feedback, I’ve updated FAQ 23 to read as follows for the next release.

= 23. My testimonial URL says “Page not found” or 404 =
Go to WordPress > Plugins to Deactivate and then Activate Testimonials Widget. The flush_rewrite_rules function needs to run.

If that still doesn’t work, go to WordPress > Settings > Permalinks and click “Save Changes”.

    Do you think that suffices?

Totally. I might have a couple more questions while I test the plugin but I’ll open up new threads, so it help others in doubt.

    Thanks for the awesome plugin.

Not sure if anyone can help me, but I’m having an issue with a testimonial permalink. I was having problems figuring out how to get a testimonial to show in an article, and realized 2 things:
    1. The testimonial has to be Published; 2. The testimonial title and permalink have to match. Well, before I realized #2, I was already on my 4th version of the testimonial, so I can’t get the permalink to just show the name of the person giving the testimonial in the permalink, it assigns a number to the end, which then shows in the testimonial itself because the title has to match. How do I fix this?

Delete and empty trash of all but the testimonial you want to keep. Then edit the slug below the title or via slug panel.

    That worked, thank you!
