Hi there, I’m quite a newbie at all this!

I have 3 WP domains, one is a full site that I’ve just built, the other two I haven’t got to yet (I’ve installed WP just not built them yet).

I received an email from my host Hostgator advising me to run a test on PHP5.4. This morning I tried it, and now my main site appears to no longer exist! I usually get to it from the link in my WordPress Welcome email and it is just timing out. I’ve tried linking from the emails for the other two sites and they are the same.

This is my first day off in ages and I was hoping to work on the site and get it finished… this is a bit of a disaster. I am assuming it was the PHP upgrade to blame, but I’m not sure.

I spoke to customer support at Hostgator and the lady said she could see my site, but it’s not working for me here.

Any help would be really appreciated!

    Tizzy

  • I’m sorry but there is absolutely no reason why WordPress itself wouldn’t work on PHP 5.4. Also, this does seem to be some sort of local problem. Have you tried using another browser? another computer?

Thanks for your reply esmi. I don’t have another computer to try on but it’s not working on Safari or Firefox, or on my iphone.

Even if I type in the website address it stays blank and then times out.

I didn’t test everything this morning before I upgraded, but I did last night and all was well.

    Site url?

Sorry! I went to do something different in the hope that it would have miraculously mended itself by the time I came back… it hasn’t though.

It’s back! I have no idea what happened, but it’s all back and panic over. My word, what a day! Thanks esmi for taking the time to reply.

No problem. Glad to hear that your site is working again. 🙂
