Test mail suddenly does not work anymore

    Hi,
    I am using the plugin for some time without problems. Now there is a problem. but WP, PHP, the plugin itself is up to date.

    When sending a testmail, I receive the information, that it cannot be sent. The errorlog says:
    (after some lines without problems)

    2021-11-05 08:10:58 Connection failed. Error #2: stream_socket_enable_crypto(): Peer certificate CN=smtprelaypool.ispgateway.de' did not match expected CN=smtp.schott-acting-studio.de’ [/kunden/320405_10115/webseiten/wp-includes/PHPMailer/SMTP.php line 468]

    So what can I do?

    Hi @rabox66,

    Thanks for reaching out with the error details. It indicates an issue with the certificate. The certificate presented isn’t matching the hostname you’ve configured. Please contact your webhost with the full SMTP error log.

    Hi,
    thanks for the answer. Could you please tell me, which certificate you are talking about? that is good to know before asking my host.

    Hi @rabox66,

    It’s the mail server certificate that encrypts the email communication and the presented certificate isn’t matching the SMTP host ‘smtp.schott-acting-studio.de’ or you are probably trying to connect to ‘smtprelaypool.ispgateway.de’ SMTP host? That looks like a valid SMTP server for Ispgateway.de accounts.
