Support » Plugin: Gutenberg » Massively interrupts workflow

  • No option to just sit down and write anymore. A new content block has to be created for every type of formatting and every image. No more just writing, clicking a button to add a list or dragging and dropping an image after you’ve finished writing.

Want to add an image? Stop writing, create a new content block for an image, add the image, create a new content block for text, then start writing again.

Personally, I may not be blogging for long after this update is forced. This is one of the reasons we use WordPress and not any of the lesser-quality CMS.

Hi there, and thank you for the feedback.

We understand it may feel a bit less intuitive at the moment, I’d like to make a note that this isn’t a finished feature yet (this is why we’ve chosen to release it as a plugin being updated weekly for now to get as much feedback as possible while iterating).

The current flow would allow for dropping an image from your computer on the editor, and it will auto-generate the block for you, you can then either start typing a caption for the image, or hit the down arrow to keep writing like normal.

I do see that it’s not as intuitive when you want inline-images though, but this is being actively discussed in the relevant GitHub ticket, and will hopefully make its way into a near future plugin release.
