Temporary Redirect

  • I have a question on redirects. Say a post of mine gets linked from a major blog or news source and then I get a ton of traffic to that specific post. All that traffic creates havoc on the server I am on. If I copy the post to a blogger page, how can I redirect traffic from the one who linked to my post to the blogger page for awhile?

  • If you have cPanel on your server you could probably configure it there.

that’d be awfully hard. you’d likely have to do it in the htaccess for it to be at all useful, and that’s still a full connection to your server to detect and redirect. better to make sure you’re on a decent server, and running things like wp-cache2, if you think you’re about to be getting heavy-hitter traffic levels… 😉
