# Template per category

 * I have a doubt. I want to make categories (and child categories) uses separate
   tempates. For example, i have a “Main Page” category with some child categories,
   and a “Blog” and “Art” categories, with also some childs. Looks like that:
 * Main Page
    -News -Updates Blog -Personal -Opinion Art -Original -Fanart
 * Can I make that only “Main Page” and this childs uses index.php, and “Blog” and
   this childs uses, for example, blog.php, and “Art” and this childs uses art.php?

 * You can certainly make many page templates if that’s what you mean:

   I think this is more what the OP wants. You’ll just create a template category-
   2.php for Blog, category-3.php for art, etc Just make sure the cat number matches
   the cat number in your DB.

 * Thanks, that works perfectly, but the child categories don´t use the template
   for the main. I thought I need to make copies of the main category template an
   call them with the ID of the children.

 * You can use any ID number for any categories that you want.
    It doesn’t matter.
   I use them on [my site](http://www.cameraontheroad.com/index.php?cat=8) on about
   30 of categories, parents and children. Doesn’t matter.

 * I´m going to do that, one category file per one ID. More customize capacity.
