 * Hi,
    I downloaded and installed a template. It works well. I want to modify some
   fonts and colors. So I change, say, a color number, but when I click on View
   site, I always get the same old template without the recent modification. I can’t
   see a Re-Publish button (like Blogger) or a Save button. Can you help?

 * Do you have ftp access/ I’ve never used the admin area to modify a template myself.
 * What I do is use the FireFox Web Developer Plugin and edit the colours etc using
   the CSS editor, then I copy and paste any changes I made and paste it into style.
   css where the theme is.
 * Colours and so on are changed through the style.css, the content and structure
   is changed via the template.

 * Clear your browser’s cache.

    There isn’t
   one. The site is generated dynamically i.e. it uses the template when the page
   is requested.

 * Thanks to all of you. But may be I missed something.
 * Have I to modify the style.css file through FireFTP (for example), then upload
   that new modified file on the hosting server? Am I right?
    I also install a Firefox
   extension named Web Developer 0.9.3; is this useful for this task?

 * You can modify the file in the Presentation Panel. Just login to WordPress, go
   to “Presentation”, then to “Theme Editor”.

 * Sorry to bother you with this problem again. I waste a lot of time on that. 🙁

   I’ve never been able to modify the style.css file in the Presentation Panel/Theme
   Editor. I tried all advices: clean the browser’s cache, use Firefox Web Developer,
   and so on. It’s frustrating because I believe that WordPress is wonderful to
   manage a blog, but maybe for a more advanced user 🙂 I thought that it could
   be possible to modify dynamically the template or CSS file through the Presentation
   Panel. I’m wrong. Sorry again and thank to you for trying to help me.

 * You can modify/edit any file in the Presentation Panel provided it is writable.
   Which means you have to chmod them through your FTP client.
    Check at the bottom
   of the text area: if there is a note saying – _If this file was writable you
   could edit it._, your changes will not be saved!

 * My friends, it works! 🙂 I am a beginner and for me, ‘FTP’ looks like an motor
   oil brand name. So, imagine CHMOD, etc.
    I changed the ‘mod’ of the style.css
   file through my FTP client, then go to the Presentation Panel/Template Editor,
   makes some modifications, and TA-DA, the note ‘If this file was writable you
   could edit it’ disappears, and a cute ‘Update Files’ button appears. Now I see
   the message ‘File edited successfully’. Thank you so much. ps. I chmod the file
   for the value 666. For a security reason, do I have to re-chmod after the modifications
   to the initial value (644)?

 * Nick, both look just fine to me in Safari v2 and Firefox v1.0.4. However, there
   are quite a few validation errors for each blog that could be contributing to
   what you’re seeing (though I can’t see any problems).
 * These are for [http://www.nickroy.com/hrblog](http://www.nickroy.com/hrblog) :
 * [http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nickroy.com%2Fhrblog%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=%28detect+automatically%29&ss=1](http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nickroy.com%2Fhrblog%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=%28detect+automatically%29&ss=1)

 * Thanks for the links, I’ll pass them on to the support guys at hostgator.
 * We’re using Internet Explorer, and we are seeing lines across the text. I just
   switch it back to the default theme, and it looks like it is broken apart now.
   The links on the right side are all the way down the page, and it is only on
   that one page. This is weird, because this just happened yesterday.
 * Right now, we’re re-installing wordpress onto the server.

 * Actually, the validation errors are things that you’ll have to fix yourself by
   editing your posts and template files. There’s nothing that your hosting provider
   can do for you there.
