Support » Fixing WordPress » Template help for static blog page

  • I’m in trouble after I made some custom page templates. Everything works fine (I’m using Skrimish as theme) except for the page that is supposed to run the blog. Well. This particular page is set as static blog page and no template (not even the standart template) I was working with gets the posts shown. The page is just blank or shows, best result so far, the archive and category overview of all posts. If I don’t set the blog page to this page, the page is shown normaly.
Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated..

  • I am a little confused by your terminology. There are ‘static pages’ and ‘blog pages’, but I am not sure what you mean by ‘static blog page’.

If you are using a ‘static page->Front page’ and ‘Blog page’ as set in Admin->Settings->Reading, the Blog page will always ignore any template settings.

I agree with @vtxyzzy this is very confusing.

Your blog usually uses the index.php template even if you have a static front page.
I normally create a front-page.php for my static home page and then use the index.php for the blog.
