I’ve just installed WP Job Manager and am trying to edit the single job listing by following the directions at https://wpjobmanager.com/document/single-job-listings/#section-3. When I rename single.php to single-job_listing.php and edit it I get absolutely no change – the plugin still uses single.php in my original theme. I only get a change when I copy and edit content-single-job_listing.php, but then the layout is broken and WP Job Manager still seems to be using single.php with some changes.

I’m editing and renaming these files after moving them to mytheme/job-manager as directed here https://wpjobmanager.com/document/template-overrides/.

Any thoughts on how I can change the layout of my job posting will be much appreciated.

single-job_listing.php is not a job manager template file – it follows the WordPress template hierarchy. https://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Hierarchy

That means is should be placed in the root of the theme, not the job_manager subfolder.

For editing actual job listing content, content-single-job_listing.php is probably the file you’re looking for. This does go in the sub folder.

Excellent, thanks Mike. That was simple. I just didn’t get it from what I was reading in the documentation.
