Template and template files – My understanding, please correct me?

    @kennethjaysone

    I’m learning theme development.

    Before i dwell deaper i’d want to get a solid understanding on what templates and template files are?

    Please point me at the right direction.

    Its stated that a theme at a minimum will consists of these 2 files (index.php and style.css). The style.css is a stylesheet. Is the index.php thats located in the particular theme folder a template file?

    Are these template files? single.php, page.php, archive.php?

    And template filez are files that contain multiple sets of code?

    A template (not template file) is code that can be reused over and over again?

    When multiple templates are used in a file, it becomes a template file like index.php, sidebar.php, header.php and footer.php?

    Thanking you all in advance

    Jaysone
