Support » Plugin: WP Mail SMTP by WPForms » Tells user “Sent Successfully” even though fails to connect to Gmail

  • Worked fine for 2 months, then suddenly fails to connect to Gmail. Every time when a user sends something user WP Forms, it says “Sent Successfully” even though it fails to connect to Gmail and loses the message. I only discovered this problem later when logging into WordPress Admin Dashboard. Not sure how many potential customers were lost due to this issue. This is a big deal, and if there is no elegant way to return the error message to user, at least just cause the script to crash when you cannot send the E-mail, so users don’t get the false impression that an E-mail has been successfully sent!

    Hi huntclub,

I’m sorry for the trouble, and the issue you’ve described is definitely odd.

In order for us to help get to the bottom of this, could you please share more details?

For example, could you please share:
    1) The mailer you’re using
    2) What exactly you see/saw after opening the WordPress dashboard
    3) Whether you were able to fix the issue — and if so, the steps required

If you haven’t yet gotten this sending issue resolved, these details would help me to help out with that. And either way, they would help our team’s discussions on how we might be able to differently address this type of situation.

We’d really appreciate any details you’d be willing to share. Thanks!
