  • Hi all,

I am an experienced teacher of English as a second language but a newbie when it comes to WordPress.

However, after spending the summer looking for an easy interface to get my students to get involved and after having reviewed tikiwiki, moodle, Drupal, Geeklog, Mambo, PHP-Nuke and others, I must say that WordPress came out as a clear winner.

I am looking for reviews of my site: from other teachers or from WordPress experts that could make any suggestions to improve the site in order to raise the interest of teenagers.

Thank y7ou all for your input.

  • It looks interesting. It’s a pity I don’t teach English or French, otherwise I would definitively be interested in participating.

I would like to warn you though about students and passwords. First of all they seem to lose them quite often. And they are also not as careful with passwords as we would like them to be. They easily share them, especially when there’s peer pressure or teasing going on.

    Thanks Anne-Lise,

I appreciate your input. Any other comments?

    Hi abettik,

I have used the web for teaching for the last 8 years. I mostly used Java for interactive stuff. What worries me is that spammers are virtually certain to hit your site. You may have to spend a lot of time dealing with that. So look into the spam-preventing plugins for WordPress. Also, you may find yourself devoting too much time to the programming aspects of your teaching blog. On the other hand, that may a way to hook some of your students. Good luck!

Very nice I like your header.
