• Hello,

I have a webshop where I sell event tickets, DVDs and books. They all have different tax rates applied to them: tickets are 6%, dvds 25% and books 6% independent of location. I entered each of these tax rates under the tab Standard Rates and International rates, and gave them priority 1, 2, 3 in each of them.

Now, instead of the system applying the correct tax to the correct product, it is applying all tax rates to all products.

How can I make Woocommerce “see” what products are in the shopping cart and only apply the tax rate appropriate to each product? I have customers only buying tickets also getting tax rates charged for books and dvds. I have checked the “shipping tax class based on cart items” option, but I guess I am not understanding the logic of the whole thing and it’s very embarrassing for the client and for me.

    Thank you for your help.

You need to set up 3 different tax classes, not 3 rates.

    Hi Mike, thank you!

The odd thing is I have always had it set up as three different tax rates, each for a product category. It worked fine in the beginning. Then I stepped away from the site for a few weeks and let the client handle the webshop, and the taxes were all messed up. And yet, the tax setup was the same as I left it. Very strange.

Now I have created different tax classes and hope it works.

It has always worked like that. Rates in the same class stack.

Hi, I am having problem with the tax rates, I set up new tax class and created tax rate for virginia state but on the checkout page it gets the tax rate of any country from the virgnia tax rate I set up.
