Help needed for Issue: The tax is doubling on the form but correct in the total and is collected correctly. We checked the completed order on the backend and everything is correct, it’s just the order form on the front end and the email order. We are using TaxCloud for sales tax with the Simple Sales Tax plugin. Zip code you can use is 55430 which will show tax for Minnesota.
    Subtotal $3.00
    Free shipping
    Shipping to Minneapolis, MN 55430.
Tax $0.47 (not correct tax, should be $0.24)
    Total $3.24 (correct total)

A completed product Invoice on Dashboard on another completed order – everything here is correct, however the order form showed the tax but not in the total. We did collect the correct amount.

    Product: 10.00
    Subtotal: 10.00
    shipping: Free Shipping
    Tax: $0.75 (correct)
    Payment method: PayPal
Total: $10.00 (should be including the tax)

    Dashboard is correct
    1 $10.00
    Subtotal $10.00
    Shipping Free shipping
    Tax $0.75
    Total $10.75

  • Did you clear out your local tax rate tables IN WOOCOMMERCE? That is most likely the problem (WC is using that table to add tax, then TaxCloud is adding the correct tax).

    Thank you for responding, @taxcloud!
Tax tables in Standard Rates were cleared out. Total on order still doesn’t reflect correct amount. The tax calculation is now correct, but the total doesn’t include it.
    Item: $2.00

    Tax: $0.15
    Total: $2.00

    Hi @websitesforasong,

That is a very unusual situation. I do see that the tax is not displaying at checkout. It’s really odd that it would then be added to the order correctly and the customer charged for it.

It could be a code conflict. The first thing to do would be to set up a staging site, a copy of your live site for testing. You can use the WP Staging plugin to set one up if you don’t have one.

Then on the staging site, switch to the Twenty Nineteen theme and temporarily deactivate all plugins except for WooCommerce and Taxcloud. Try checking out and see if tax is added. If it is, then turn your theme back on and test again. Keep testing with the other plugins until the tax stops working again. The last item turned on will likely be related to the problem.

Let us know what you turn up.

    Take care,
