Support » Plugin: Cleverness To-Do List » Tasks not showing to assigned users

  • I am trying to use this for a potential customer demo. I had this working on a local test site on my own PC, but cannot make it work on the demo site.
List View is set to Master. Categories are disabled. Assign To-Do Items to Users is set to Yes. Show a User Only the To-Do Item Assigned to them is set to Yes, but this setting makes no difference to the result. User Roles to show includes Subscriber. In User Permissions, View To-Do List and Complete To-Do Item capability are set to Read.
I create items and assign them to users. The To-Do List is configures to be shown in a Text Widget with a short code [todochecklist deadline=1 category=1] (also tried [todolist deadline=1 category=1]). Using the shortcode rather that the To-List Widget itself is the only way I was able to get completion checkboxes on the dev site. However, on this site, no matter what I do, or which short code I use, I only get “No items to do.”, even when the logged in user has been assigned a to-do list item. Obviously the plugin is looking at the short code and acting on it, but cannot seem to reference the task for display.
Any ideas on how to fix this or investigate further?

It sounds like something relating to user permissions. Are the users/user roles the same as on the local site? Assuming that items are actually getting added and assigned, some more adjustment of the settings may be needed.

Thank you for your response, but I don’t think it is anything to do with user permissions. The items are definitely getting added.
If I attempt to display the items in the ToDo List Widget, then the tasks for the user will be listed. Unfortunately, the tasks doe not have checkboxes so the assignee can tick off the item(s), so that is why I want to use the shortcode option where I can tell it to display chedckboxes.
However, if I add the checklist (or non checklist) shortcode to a standard text widget, then it just says “No items to do”. So it does understand there is a shortcode for this plugin, but it is not processing it correctly. I have displayed both types of widget in the same widget hosting area such as the footer, and the ToList widget displays the tasks, whereas the text widget with the shortcode does not.
Any other ideas? Is there some more information I can provide?

Okay, I was misunderstanding what was wrong. The category=1 part will only show items in the To-Do List Category with a category ID of 1. Maybe on the demo site the ID for that category is different? I did test locally and it’s working, but at first I forgot to change the category ID to one that existed so it said no items.

    Thanks Cindy.
That was my mistake – I had removed categories and I thought I had removed the reference to the category in the shortcode as well….
Anyway, I have now got this to work with or without categories.
    Thanks you for your help.
