Support » Fixing WordPress » Targeting adsense for a post

  • I thought i’d seen this somewhere before, but I couldn’t find it again…. so, sorry if this is a repeat question.

    I’ve figured out how to use my adsense plug-in, however, I’d like to figure out how I can get Adsense to deliver ad’s that are relevent to the post that they are located in.

    I don’t think YOU can do anything about it. But you can always ask the big G. Not the WP forum 🙂

    There’s some simple template mods you can make to make your adsense more relevant in general.

    First, you need to know how your theme/templates work. Where the Loop is, where the sidebars get called, that sort of thing.

    Around the Loop, you want to place this code:
    <!-- google_ad_section_start -->
    ... loop goes here ...
    <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

    Around all the content that is not the loop (but still in the body), you want to place this code:
    <!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->
    ... sidebars or whatever ...
    <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

    Basically, this code tells Google’s scanner what parts are relevant content and what parts are just stuff that can be ignored.

    I’m gonna try this on my theme.

    Google says it can take up to a week. I’m curious if my AdSense will change and get more relevant to my content.

    Thanks for the tips.

    Google talks about it here
