Support » Localhost Installs » Taking over a company’s wordpress site

  • Hello,

I have recently started working with a company’s wordpress site. It was originally made on someone else’s computer with wordpress.org, so I guess he had to download and install it onto his computer. My question is whether or not I can access the site to edit it from my own laptop with the downloaded and installed version. After I downloaded it (with MAMP), I realized that it looks like I’d have to create my own site, but I just want access to this one.

Also, I do have access to the site, but not the same kind of access. There doesn’t appear to be an option to edit the website’s menu through the version that I am able to access online. I assume that there would be more interface options if I were to access it through the MAMP version, is this true?

    Thanks for taking the time!

  • there is no need (and no advantage) to have WordPress installed on your computer to access and edit a hosted WordPress site (as long as you have the corresponding login data as administator).

double-check what level of access you have to the site.
