My hosts (god bless em) decided to delete my Tablepress installation as they believed that it contained malicious code. I had a dozen tables created with Tablepress on my site. Is all the table data now lost? Can I reinstall Tablepress and pick up the data? Can I retrieve the data from somewhere?

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

Unless they used the “Uninstall TablePress” button on the “Plugin Options” screen, the data should still be there.
The data is stored in the database, so deleting just the files won’t delete the tables.

Re-installing TablePress should bring everything back. To have a backup, you could then export all the tables to e.g. the CSV format (which can easily be opened e.g. in Excel) or to the JSON format (which is a backup that also includes the settings/options for each table).

    Regards,
    Tobias

I have tried to install tablepress through wordpress but it failed as it said the destination folder already exists. How do I get round that issue. Could it be that the plugin is actually there but not showing in my admin panel?

    Hi,

yes, that could indeed be a possibility then.
Can you log in via FTP and delete the existing folder before re-installing it?

    Regards,
    Tobias
