Hi, thanks for the plugin, it is so helpful and so powerful!
I have one frustration: when I am in the assistant view, I am not able to use the “bulk edit” optoin in normal library view , it sends me to the normal library view, where OI d’ont have access to bulk edit. Is there a way?
I went though all settings… and am not sure I understand them all.
    Thanks, Agnes

Thanks for your positive feedback and for your question. I want to make sure I understand the issue you are having.

You wrote “it sends me to the normal library view“. By “normal library view” do you mean the WordPress Media/Library “grid” view, with the gallery of item thumbnails?

Can you say more about how you are opening the Bulk Edit area? These are the usual steps to perform a Bulk Edit action:

    1. Navigate to the Media/Assistant admin screen.
      • Check the box to the left of each item you want to edit.
      • Pull down the “Bulk Actions” control and select “Edit”.
      • Click “Apply” to open the Bulk Edit Area.
      • Make the changes you want to apply to the selected items.
      • Click “Update” in the lower-right corner of the Bulk Edit area to apply your changes.
      • When the operation is complete, click “Refresh” to see the results.

It is possible that you are clicking the “grid” icon to the left of the Bulk Actions control, which would take you to the WordPress Media/Library screen. Is that the case? If not, can you tell me where the process goes wrong for you?

You also wrote “I am not able to use the “bulk edit” option in normal library view“. If by that you mean that you don’t see the Bulk Edit option on the WordPress Media/Library screen, you’re right. The Bulk Edit functions are only available on the Media/Assistant admin screen.

Thanks for any additional information you can give me, and thanks for your interest in the plugin.

Hi David, thanks for the prompt and careful response!

You ask “By “normal library view” do you mean the WordPress Media/Library “grid” view, with the gallery of item thumbnails?” >> YES

You ask “Can you say more about how you are opening the Bulk Edit area? ”
    >> I do as you say. The thing is, I’d find it much more handy if I could do that bulk editing from a “table view” (or grid view) not list view. Is that possible?

You ask “It is possible that you are clicking the “grid” icon to the left of the Bulk Actions control, which would take you to the WordPress Media/Library screen. Is that the case” >> YES

Here is a screencastify of mu use: video

Basically, I wonder if there is a way to bulk edit from a grid/table view?

Thanks for your date with the answers to my questions and the video of your use case.

As you have discovered, the Bulk Edit (and Quick Edit) functions are tied to the MLA Media/Assistant admin screen. The effort required to add something like Bulk Edit to the WordPress “grid” view would be significant and I have no plans to work on such an enhancement in the foreseeable future.

I regret the news is not better, but I am marking this topic resolved because your question has been answered to the best of my ability. Thanks for your understanding.

    OK, I understand.
The reason why I was asking is I was not sure some of the more advabnced options (like “views”) would not enable me to do this.
Also, the MLA Media/Assistant admin screen could have this different view option.
Thanks anyhow for the great plugin and carefful support!

Thanks again for understanding my position. I know that MLA can be complex and it can be a challenge to work out how to apply it in your application.

The Media/Library “grid” view was added as part of WordPress’ first big JavaScript project. The code that implements it is very complex and I have found it hard to work with, although I will admit my server-side PHP skills are much stronger than my browser-side JavaScript skills. Developing a Media/Assistant “grid” view with advanced features like Bulk Edit would be a large project and is more than I can undertake in the foreseeable future.

If there’s anything else I can do to help you get the most out of MLA, start a new topic and I will give you any assistance I can.
