Table to load into Create Product interface or product db

I have members who will be submitting products into our site for sale. I can’t train them all on the WP Create Product interface page (they are artists, they won’t use it). I have a table style page that I’d like to use, and would like the table to have applicable drop downs choices (size, color, etc). I’d like the choices to load into the Create Product page, or load directly into the Product table of the database. I don’t think creating the table page is an issue, but I’m told that we need to use the Create Product interface or we’ll mess up the code, and make it impossible for the members to update their products. We are using a Maya template that we found through WP (Maya Shop), which seems to be a great e-commerce starting point, but not as simple as some of the basic templates. But surely this custom template isn’t that much of a stretch, and has been done before?
