I think it has something to do with going from localhost to live server. I seem to be able to go the other way around, packaging a live site and installing it on my desktop server. * The archive is a mere 30MB, and packed up plenty fast. No large files, all systems reported ‘Good’. * I tried several more times. Trying to access installer.php via the browser displayed a page of hieroglyphics. At least I didn’t get an error 🙂 * I’m using Chrome Canary. Who knew. What your are saying is I can re- name, move and use the installer file from the snapshot directory?!
