[Resolved] sync/re-order post id’s?

  • Is it possible to rebuild/update the posts table (and all the relevant tables) to re-order the post id’s starting from 1? My post id’s have large gaps – I guess it doesn’t matter too much to most.. (I use permalinks with no id’s) – but it’s just my preference to have them all fixed 😛

I’m not familiar enough with wordpress to look into it myself, so trying to see if anyone has a solution.

  • It’s not WP. It’s the nature of the MySQL database. If you have 100 posts and you delete 99, the next new one will be 101. That’s how it works. Don’t worry about it, and don’t mess around with it: you can easily bork your blog.

    What moshu said!

Also, be aware that uploaded images “consume” a post id. As do Pages. And drafts.
