    It should not display email field if you keep the email filed empty on the backend.
    Can you share your website link ?

    I left the email field blank and it displays properly on windows xp and Safari but both Chrome 51 and Microsoft Edge 13 with Windows 10 Home show the @ symbol.

    Looks like this is added by different plugin or the theme, you can hide the using css
