Support » Fixing WordPress » Switching Web Hosts, Need to Access Old Account

  • Hi all,

I have recently had to migrate hosting accounts due to a number of malware issues that were causing problems on my client’s blog. Upon switching over, I, of course, forgot to copy/paste the old blog posts from the original WP-login account. I have successfully set up my new account and blog and need to access those posts. I still have all the original files from the old blog, but I assume that all the posts are stored in the SQL database associated with the old web host… am I correct?

If so, is there any other way I can access them without going back through to re-install WP on the old host/database and grabbing them?

And if so, is the above even possible or is this account deleted? (I still have access to the old host as it does not expire for over a year). Additionally, I never deleted the database.

Thank you all! Any insight is appreciated.

All of your post and page content is indeed in the sql database. If you can still find it at the old hosting account, you can then import it into your new installation. No need to re-install WP on the old host. There’s lots of info in the Codex regarding database issues. Check there, and good luck.
