I’ve just switched to wordpress to work on my outdated website.
my plan: Domain stays the same but i don’t need any files of my old website for a fresh start with wordpress.
The wordpress installation guide suggested to install wordpress in a sub folder which i did to then easily take down my website and take over the root domain. ( i don’t care if my website is blank for a few days).
I checked the files and they are all mashed up and it doesn’t look like it installed WP in a subfolder.
so… what do I do now. how do i take down my website without accidentally deleting one of the files needed for wordpress.
Can i leave the files up and just let wordpress overwrite them?
(I’m not very experienced and this is my first wordpress website so please try and explain it with words of simple mortal men. thanks!)
