• Hello,

A major issue – when switching themes all widgets are now deactivated. I use a lot of custom Text Boxes on my site and because the Widget Titles don’t change I have 15 widgets that all say “Text” so while experimenting with a couple of new themes when you switch between them having all the Widgets deactivated is a major PROBLEM for me. Please fix this new “feature.”

    Otherwise, my upgrade went fine.

  • I am having the same problem.

This is a problem, but there is a somewhat painless workaround – but it is not perfect.

Whenever you change themes (well – a lot of the times, seems a bit unpredictable when you lose your widgets), the widgets that were being used in the previous theme are saved in the “Inactive Widgets” area of the Widgets control panel.

So the thing to do is to note the order you have your widgets in the sidebar, clear out the “Inactive Widgets” area, then change themes. Your old widgets should now be in the “Inactive Widgets” space ready to drag back into the appropriate sidebar of your new theme.

So, is this just the way it is going to be now? I can no longer tell people that all they need to do is choose a new theme and there sidebar elements will stay intact? Is this something that will be changed or fixed or not?
