• I have a blog hosted in wordpress.com and shelled out money to so I could own my own domain (skeetermegia.com). I intend to make money from my blog by allowing ads and tying up with sites like nuffnang however I learned that they do not support my host (wordpress.com). It turns out wordpress.com does not allow this. So my questions are:

    1. does wordpress.org support ads and sites like nuffnang? and if it does,
    2. how do i migrate my blog from the .com to the .org? I just paid for my theme and my own domain. It would be a waste if I were to just abandon my site.

    hope you could help me.

  • 1) wordpress.org site means you own the entire , you can do whatever you want if you have a hosting and domain , that’s enough. The answer is Yes,wordpress.org provides you the software WordPress to run your site on.You need to have skills installing and customizing and installing plugins.

    2) Check out this tutorial

I just paid for my theme and my own domain.

You will likely not be able to bring your theme out of wordpress.com, and wordpress.com might or might not issue some type of refund. So, do a search here and see what your alternatives might be before deciding about moving:
    https://wordpress.org/themes/

Your domain name can be pointed to any servers anywhere, and you can do that even while leaving it registered at wordpress.com.
