switching blog to a subdomain mapping

  • wpuser100

My blog is currently pointing to the root of my domain. Let’s call it domain.com. I’d like it to be a subdomain (e.g., blog.domain.com). The WordPress blog is hosted on GoDaddy. Note that I don’t want domain.com/blog which is what the help page http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL describes. This is what I did.

I first changed the wildcard (@) A NAME in GoDaddy to the IP address I want to use for the main domain (which is a different server). That worked fine. Then I added an A NAME entry for “blog” and entered the IP for the WordPress site (the one that used to be associated with “@”). (BTW CNAME didn’t seem to work either)

Then I went into the wp-admin dashboard and changed the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) settings to “http://blog.domain.com” instead of “http://domain.com”

After making these changes, navigating to “http://blog.domain.com” did not get to WordPress, the page simply echoed “pageok.”

    I’d appreciated any help. Thanks
