Switching between underscores and dashes in permal

  • I noticed that diveintomark.org’s archives are split between dashes and underscores.
    Some entries are:
    /archives/year/month/title_of_post
    while others are:
    /archives/year/month/title-of-post
Since my old MT archives are using the former but WP prefers the latter, I’m wondering how Mark gets the two to live together on his site. When I put my WP site live, I’d like the keep the old archives with the underscores if possible.
    Thanks,
    –Ron

  • He’s probably redirecting the old MT URL’s to the new WP entries with mod_rewrite. Depending on how you do the redirect, you may still see the old URL with the underscores in the location bar. I don’t know how he did it, but I explain how I did it in my blog.
