My “flipbook” experience began with a competitor’s plugin. It was very similar in function, but their navigation bar covered the bottom of the pages slightly (and we use that area in most of our designs). As a graphic and web designer, the fact that there was no way to move the navigation down another 20-30 pixels so it wouldn’t block part of the page drove me absolutely nuts! Why would someone program it that way?
Anyway, I decided to see if there was another plugin that offered a similar experience, as our site’s visitors LOVE the ability to flip through the pages and read the content. That’s when I luckily found THIS plugin! Our specific use is for presenting an interactive experience to mimic an 11×17″ property brochure. It’s almost as good as the real thing! Amazingly realistic, and the best part?? The author of the plugin put the navbar exactly where it should be!! Common sense prevails! THANK YOU!!
Support was also awesome when I ran across an issue that I thought was the plugin acting up. It wasn’t. It was a server setting that my hosting company corrected. But the fix was suggested by the plugin’s support staff after they investigated the code on the page in question. Their response was astonishingly fast and helpful!!
If I had one thing I’d change about the plugin…it’s the fact that the drop shadow to the right of the pages does not look good (at all). It’s choppy looking, almost resembling a wire-bound notebook’s edge. It was very close to being a deal breaker, but there was no way I was going back to the previous flipbook plugin. Still, it seems like the drop shadow should be fixed so it looks right, or at least include the option to turn it off completely (which is what I’d do). I’ll admit that as a designer, I’m picky about graphics, so to have a choppy looking drop shadow is no bueno for me.
All in all though…it’s otherwise THE IDEAL AND PERFECT PLUGIN TO CREATE AND PRESENT YOUR DOCUMENT IN A REALISTIC AND IMPRESSIVE MANNER! GO AHEAD AND GET IT!
