Support » Everything else WordPress » Switch from wordpress.com?

  • Hi,
I hope this is an appropriate place to ask this. I’ve had a site on wordpress.com for the past year and am looking to redesign it using a page builder, likely Elementor. It seems I have to upgrade to a business plan to do that, or switch to wp.org. I’m not really sure which is the better option. My site is for my piano teaching and freelance musician work. I’m hoping y’all can provide some pros/cons about these options. I haven’t got a very clear picture, thus far, from web seaches. Thank you, Kevin

  • WordPress.org is a download WordPress and install it anywhere you want type thing.
You will need to purchase hosting and upload WordPress, install it and upload a theme. If you own a domain name you will have to point it to the new hosting so your site shows up when people type the address into their browser.

GoDaddy is as low as $2.99 a month for hosting and you get a free domain name with the purchase.

Or for $3.99/mo you can get their WordPress managed hosting plan where WordPress is pre-installed and you log in through your dashboard.
