  • Since I installed statpress I’ve noticed that the same IP address loads every page on my site each day. It shows up as IE 6 on Windows XP. Could this be a bot/crawler in disguise? Should I care at all about this?

The ip is, DNSstuff puts that ip in redwood city, CA.

it prolly is. should you care? Bigger question is why would you care.. is it bothering you? Why do you call it suspicious? If I were to revisit your site every day, would I be suspicious? 😛

Im as anal as the next person, and it is prolly a bot, but just because someone or something happens to return, thats not suspicious — unless your site totally sucks.

Well the fact that it checked every post just made me wonder.

Curious about if it was a bot or not too.

If someone likes my site enough to check each post each day that would be cool . . .

    Thanks for the info whoo.

I am pretty sure that that IP is a bot, I get the exact same hits from the same IP every time I post ( From looking at the logs, it checks the feed first and then each post in the feed within the next ten seconds or so (a total of 11 hits each time I make a post). It is pretty consistent in that it gets there about ten mins after my post each time.
I wouldn’t worry about it, It can’t do you any harm, and it is never a bad thing to have bots finding your blog. It can only increase traffic.
