I’ve recently started publishing my episodes in Mv4 to be able to use the added metadata, but the audio player doesn’t seem to be responding to the Mv4. Thankfully, iTunes still plays the content correctly, but people can’t play the audio on my site.
I do find this strange because I could swear it was working when I first installed, but overnight, it doesn’t seem to work, only on these few Mv4 files.
Here are the links to the episodes if you want to see what I’m talking about.
Also, I tried this on both Chrome and Safari, and it doesn’t work with either browser.
Actually, scratch the links for the time being. They are still live, but until I get this worked out, I’m switching back to mp3. Still need the insider info though.
From v1.6 of SSP, the plugin uses WordPress’ built-in media player instead of the one bundled with the plugin. If a particular file format is not supported then it is due to a limitation of the media player inside WordPress itself. This will most likely be resolved in future WordPress versions.
That being said, I am working on making sure this plugin can support as many audio file types as possible regardless of WordPress’ limitations.
Awesome, thanks Hugh. Having the Mv4 version wasn’t an imperative, so I can hold out until it’s ready.
