    Hi
I have a Multisite, one of the sites in it uses WPML and WooCommerce, has about 1500 users. I need to clone it. The whole database is about 700mb (have run optimisations to try and get it smaller).

I’m running PHP7.4, WP 5.7, on WP Engine hosting.

But the process of Cloning is taking forever, after 45 mins, it is still on 1-5%.

    What I’ve tried so far:

    1) Made sure memory limit was at max define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘512M’);

    2) Added your memory function found here https://wordpress.org/support/topic/slow-cloning-about-more-than-8-9-hours-for-simple-site/

    3) Experimented with logging on/off, more rows, less rows, skip views, skip constraints.

    4) Optimised all tables to try and reduce size

    Any other tips?

    Thanks

    Hi James,

It sounds like you’ve done really well as far as trying all the initial things we’d recommend. If you can send us a log file to support@neversettle.it we can take a look and see if we can tell what the bottleneck might be.

OK I will be in touch.

Just for some public information sharing.

Total size of database: 913.84 MB
    Total rows: 7,668,697

I’m getting the message “It appears background processing may be getting blocked on the server (or could just be running slowly)” – anything I can do to enable background processing?

    My settings are:

    Logging YES
    Rows Per Query 25000
    Skip views NO
    Skip constraints NO

Currently I’m at 67% completion with the task taking 7 hours 30 minutes(!)

Hmm, well I went to sleep and when I came back it looked like it had completed. But the cloned site didn’t have the users copied across, so I guess it failed?

Have sent you an email as requested
