• I love this theme but am having trouble finding a lightbox type plugin that is compatible. I want people to be able to click on my photos and see larger more close up versions in a new window that hovers over without having to leave the site. I am a novice to wordpress but am willing to mess with programming within the theme if I can keep it AND get this new functionality I want. The lightbox plugins I’ve tried that are NOT compatible with Sunspot (I say this because I could get them to work easily with other themes).
    Responsive Lightbox
    Simple Lightbox
    WP Colorbox
    WP Lightbox 2
    FooGallery
    Easy FancyBox

Any help would be awesome! Thanks.

Hi there, The Jetpack WordPress.com plugin would be compatible, and it has the image carousel, which will provide a lightbox for images in Galleries, but not on single images. Single images will open in the browser window.

On my test site, Responsive Lightbox by dFactory seemed to work well with Sunspot with its default settings on single images and WordPress Galleries as well.. There are a number of customizations under Settings > Responsive Lightbox.

Thanks so much for your reply! I’m new to WordPress and still learning. I went back and did some investigating with Responsive Lightbox and it now works 🙂 It works on the images when viewing individual posts and when you have a list of posts from viewing all posts within a category. The reason I thought it didn’t work is because it does not work on the homepage. The homepage is set to be a static page displaying recent posts. Any clue why this might be?

I’ve activated it so it should behave as I described above. The website is http://nogoatfarm.com/. When you first go there, you arrive on the home page and the images won’t appear in a lightbox (nothing happens when you click on them) It DOES work on individual posts and on a list of posts if you go to Categories, like “General Doodling”.
Any suggestions would be great – Thanks!

Hmmm, this is strange. I would suggest two things:

    1. Disable all plugins on your site with the exception of the Responsive Lightbox and see what happens on the main page then.

    2. Chat with the plugin developer and see if they have any ideas: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/responsive-lightbox . Ask them specifically if it is meant to work on the main blog (posts) page or not, and if so, if they could take a look and see what is happening with it on Sunspot.
